Or use Homebrew.
The same signed build, from Orb’s own tap.
brew install --cask orb-browser/tap/orb
Orb updates itself after that. The cask tells Homebrew so, and each new release updates the cask too.
The first few minutes.
From download to your first Space.
Open the disk image
Open Orb-arm64.dmg from your Downloads folder.
Drag Orb to Applications
Then open Orb from your Applications folder.
Make it yours
A short setup brings over your old browser, asks about privacy and your search engine, and names your first Space. Press ⌘ T and go.
Updates.
Automatic, signed and checked.
Automatic
Orb checks for updates on its own and installs them, security fixes included. This can’t be switched off, because an out-of-date browser puts you at risk.
Signed
Every update is signed, and Orb installs only updates signed with the key it ships with. Choose Check for Updates in the Orb menu to look right away.
Check your copy
macOS can confirm who signed Orb and that Apple notarized it. The security report has more checks you can run.
spctl -a -vv /Applications/Orb.app
/Applications/Orb.app: accepted source=Notarized Developer ID origin=Developer ID Application: Dennis Yilmaz (7VA9646HSG)
Uninstalling.
No helpers or login items to hunt down.
By hand
Quit Orb and drag it from Applications to the Trash. Your data stays in your Library folder, under Application Support/Orb, until you delete it.
With Homebrew
This removes the app and Orb’s data folders.
brew uninstall --zap --cask orb-browser/tap/orb
If you use Sync
Remove the Mac in Settings › Sync first. Its Spaces stay on the Mac, and if it was the only Mac in your sync group, the encrypted copy on the server is deleted too.
