Orb Services Terms

Effective November 5, 2026

These terms cover the online services that Dennis Yilmaz, an individual ("we"), runs for the Orb browser at services.orb.surf: Orb Sync, the Tweaks Gallery, feedback, and the services Orb uses in the background, such as updates, blocker lists and crash reports. They add to the Orb End User License Agreement. By using these services you agree to these terms. The Orb Privacy Policy explains what these services handle.

The services are free. There is no account.

1. Who can use them

You must be at least 13, and old enough where you live to agree to these terms. If you're under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree for you. You can't use the services if the law or United States sanctions bar you from doing so.

2. Orb Sync

Your data and your keys. Sync stores an encrypted copy of what you choose to sync, and you keep all rights in it. You give us only the permission we need to store and return that encrypted data. We can't read it.

Your recovery key is your responsibility. Your 24-word recovery key is the only way back in if you lose every Mac in your sync group. We don't have it and can't recover it, and we can't reset anything for you. Anyone who has it can read your synced data and act as you in your sync group, so keep it private.

Limits. By default a sync group has up to 64 MiB of storage and 32 active devices, and we may limit the number of sync groups on our servers. We may change these limits. New sync groups may need to pass an automated check or use an invitation.

Deleting. Removing the last Mac from your sync group deletes the group and its data from our servers. If no Mac in a sync group connects for 365 days, we delete the group and its data. Your Macs keep what they have, and Sync sets the group up again the next time one connects. Keep your own copies of anything that matters. Sync isn't a backup.

3. Tweaks Gallery

Publishing is public and permanent in effect. A Tweak you publish is visible to everyone, at once.

You dedicate it to the public. When you publish a Tweak you dedicate it to the public domain under the CC0 1.0 Universal dedication (https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/). Anyone may copy, change and use it for any purpose, without asking or crediting you. You can delete a Tweak from the gallery, but copies other people already have stay under CC0.

Only publish what's yours to give. Publish a Tweak only if you wrote it or have the right to dedicate it under CC0. Don't include personal information.

What isn't allowed. Don't publish anything that:

Tweaks are CSS, visual settings and hidden elements. The gallery refuses scripts and CSS that loads things from the network.

Limits. We may limit how much anyone publishes and how large a Tweak or the gallery can be.

4. Reports, moderation and decisions

You can report a Tweak from the gallery. A Tweak reported from three different addresses is hidden automatically until we review it.

We may hide or remove a Tweak if we believe it breaks these terms or the law. When we hide or remove your Tweak we'll say so and give our reason where we have a way to reach you, and you can ask us to look again by contacting us. There is no account or email address behind a Tweak, so in most cases we won't have a way to reach you. If a Tweak disappears, contact us.

To tell us about illegal content, send us: where the Tweak is, why you believe it's illegal, your name and email address, and a statement that you believe this in good faith.

Our point of contact for authorities and for users of the service is orb@denni.sh, in English.

5. Copyright complaints

If you believe a Tweak infringes your copyright, send a notice to orb@denni.sh containing the items listed in 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3), including the work, the location of the Tweak, your contact details, a good-faith statement, a statement under penalty of perjury and your signature.

If your Tweak is removed after a notice, you may send a counter-notice under 17 U.S.C. § 512(g). We may remove every Tweak from people who infringe repeatedly.

6. Fair use of the services

Don't overload, probe or disrupt the services, get around their limits, or access them by anything other than Orb or an interface we document, unless you're doing security research under Orb's Security Policy. Don't resell the services, or use them to run your own service. We may limit or block traffic that puts them at risk.

7. Changes and availability

We run these services ourselves, with no promise of uptime. We may change, suspend or stop any of them, and we may delete stored data when a service ends. Where we reasonably can, we'll give at least 30 days' notice before stopping Sync, so you can keep working from the copies on your Macs. Orb keeps working without Sync.

8. No warranty and limits on liability

Sections 8, 9 and 10 of the End User License Agreement apply to the services as well. In particular, the services are provided "as is", we don't promise that they will be available or free of errors, and we don't promise that data won't be lost.

We aren't responsible for Tweaks other people publish. Check a Tweak before you rely on it.

9. Ending

You can stop using the services at any time. These terms end for a service when you stop using it, or if we block you for breaking them. Sections 3 (your CC0 dedication), 8 and 10 continue.

10. General

Governing law: the same as section 14 of the End User License Agreement.

Feedback. If you send us feedback, through Help > Send Feedback or otherwise, we may use it to improve Orb or for any other purpose, without paying or crediting you. Don't include anyone else's personal information. The Privacy Policy says how we handle what you send.

We may change these terms. We'll post the new version with its effective date, and for a change that materially affects you we'll say so in Orb or on our website first. If you keep using the services after a change takes effect, the new version applies.
